Syble Davis

After graduating from Palestine High School, Syble Davis moved to Houston to attend Texas Southern University. Her initial major was Criminal Justice, but she enjoyed all of her English courses. She began to explore and read stories she had never really heard, especially from the Black culture. Ultimately, Syble graduated from Texas Southern University with a bachelor of arts and master of arts in English.

Davis currently serves as Associate Chair of English at Houston Community College. Going on twenty-seven years at HCC, Syble has served as a faculty member, teaching Developmental Composition, credit-level composition, Multi-cultural Literature, and Women in Literature and Fiction. She has also served as Assistant Chair of the English Department at the Central campus, Dual Credit Liaison, Program Committee Chair for Developmental English, Scholarship Chairperson for the Black History Scholarship Gala, SGA faculty sponsor, Executive member of the College Activities Board, and Division Chair for English, Developmental English, and Humanities at the Central campus.
