CTN Peer Mentor, Jon Herrin, held a book signing at Barnes and Nobles in McAllen on Saturday, January. 22.

His books include Making Sense of It All: Reflections on the Ancient Narratives of Genesis and A Journey through Suffering: A New Reading of Job in the 21st Century.

While born in south Alabama, Herrin left the US when he was just turning four-years-old. His parents, who were missionaries, raised him and his brothers in Guyana, South America, and on the island of Grenada in the West Indies. After coming the US when he was turning 17-years-old, he studied English at the university (B.A., M.A.T.). In graduate school the first time around, Jon met his wife, Jeanne. From grad school, Herrin went on to become an Asst. Prof. of English.

While being a life-long educator in higher education (college, university, seminary), Herrin is also an ordained minister in the United Methodist Church. Having studied theology and the Bible extensively (M.T.S., M.Div., Th.M., Th.D.), he enjoys teaching and preaching in the Church and the Academy. In addition to serving as a pastor presently, he is also an Assoc. Prof. of Biblical Studies in a regional seminary.
