On Saturday, November 11th, Ascender students, mentors, advisors, and professors were given the chance to attend the Texas Book Festival Real Reads Author Event. Participants at this event had the opportunity to speak directly with Héctor Tobar the author of “Our Migrant Souls”  who answered their questions regarding the stories and provided them with insights into the writing process. Even though attendance was voluntary, those who did so were treated to a one-of-a-kind and illuminating adventure that served to forge a link between the audience and the imaginative mind that lay behind the stories.
